  5. Establishment of more than 60 formal articulation agreements with community colleges

  6. Development of a rubrics-based student performance evaluation that is aligned with the ROPERS and used as an assessment and classroom management tool

Michael Worley Named Deputy Superintendent in Reorganization Move

Michael Worley, Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services, was named Deputy Superintendent, Administrative Services, at the February Board meeting.

When the Business Services Assistant Superintendent position became vacant, it was decided to consolidate Administrative and Business Services Departments, and Mr. Worley is leading the combined group.  The only other change in the reorganization is that Transition Services, which includes Disabled Student Services, WIA, WorkAbility I and ASERT (Addiction, Substance Abuse Education, Retention and Treatment), headed by Cheri Fawley, will now report to Educational Services Assistant Superintendent Lynne Porter.

Mr. Worley has finished the coursework for his Ed. D. at the University of La Verne in Organizational Leadership, and holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Management from the University of La Verne (2003), and a School Business Management certificate from California State University, Fullerton.   He also earned a B. A. degree in Vocational Education from California State University, Long Beach.

Mr. Worley began his career with North Orange County ROP as a welding instructor at Anaheim High School in 1978.  In 1989, he was selected as administrator, Instructional Programs.  He was stationed at the East Ball Road facility until his selection in 1995 as assistant superintendent, Instructional Services. In a 2003 program-wide reorganization, Mr. Worley was named Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Services, and placed in charge of Student Information Services, Technology Services, Transition Services, and Public Information Services.

Mentoring new and aspiring ROP administrators through the California Education Department-sponsored Leadership Development Institute (LDI) has been a priority for many years with Dr. Patricia Frank.  She has made it her business to help young administrators grow and develop the skills they need to head multi-million dollar institutions like North Orange County ROP.  She is shown here (right) with the LDI 2006-2007 class at their March meeting. The group assembles five times in a one-year training period for multi-day series of workshops during each training.   Three North Orange County ROP employees, Instructional Program Administrators Howard Burkett and Julie Dentler, and Administrative Intern/Instructor Terri Giamarino, were among the trainees this year.
