Course Title: Careers With Children: Preschool Assistant and School Age Child Care Assistant (Community Classroom)

* (Nursery School Attendant/Infant Toddler Assistant)

This course provides intensive training for employment in infant/toddler care settings. Classroom instruction focuses on preparing students in responsive caregiving practices that are developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of infants, toddlers, and their families. The curriculum also includes such critical workplace skills as communication and interpersonal skills, personal and professional growth, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, strong academic skills, safety/health, and an understanding of the role of technology. These skills are central in preparing all students for effective, successful careers. Students receive 60 hours of classroom training.

Prerequisites:

* 16 years of age
* Adults (18 years of age) need to have fingerprints and criminal background clearance.
