The Emergency
Medical Responder course prepares students with the entry-level
skills necessary to become first responders - emergency
personnel who provide immediate care to ill or injured persons,
and assist emergency medical service (EMS) providers. The
class includes an overview of EMS, CPR, first aide, patient
assessment, legal and ethical issues, triage, and emergency
responsibilities. Completion of this class satisfies the
prerequisites for the EMT class and also provides a strong
background for those interested in lifeguard positions, fire
service, and a variety of health-related fields.
Co-requisite class:
CPR training. Students must have a CPR card by the
completion of the course.
