Medical Insurance Coding and Billing - This course is not available (7/11).

The Medical Insurance Coding and Billing course prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of insurance coding and provides them with the skills needed to take the certification exam.  Course provides basic knowledge of CPT (including evaluation), management, and surgery), and ICD-9 coding rationales using official coding and reporting.  Both CPT and ICD-9 sections must be successfully passed to receive a Certificate of Completion.

This course is open to students in grades 11 and 12 and to adults. Integrated throughout the course are career preparation standards, which include basic academic skills, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, safety, technology, and other employment skills.

This course is competency based. Students complete up to 258 hours of classroom instruction.

Prerequisites: Pre-entrance assessment; Medical Core or equivalent. (Fee-based class*)
