The Financial
Services/Banking course prepares
students for entry-level employment as customer service
representatives in banking and other financial institutions,
including basic knowledge of bank operations, customer relations
and communications, teller skills, and employer-employee
relations. The course focuses on determining consumer needs and
then directing products, ideas, and services to meet those
needs. Integrated throughout the course are career preparation
standards, which include basic academic skills, communication,
interpersonal skills, problem solving, safety, technology, and
other employment skills. All students complete 120 hours of
classroom instruction, and eligible students may complete up to
240 hours of on-the-job training in either a commercial bank,
financial institution, or a credit office of a retail business.
Banking and finance
is a comprehensive industry specific course that provides
instruction to students who are interested in employment
(full-time or part-time) and/or career advancement in the
financial industry.
