Cosmetology, Esthetician, Manicurist
Cosmetology and
cosmetology-related courses will be open to new enrollment in spring
2011. All prospective students (high school only) must attend
an orientation before enrollment in cosmetology, esthetician, or
manicurist programs. Students attend classes at local beauty
schools. For orientation days and times, call Ms. Celeste
after February 1, 2011, at 714-502-7803.
Students learn how to beautify and care for hair, by giving
shampoos, rinses, and scalp treatments, and by styling, cutting,
dyeing, tinting, permanent-waving, and bleaching hair.
You will learn the anatomy of the face and head, the chemistry and
effects of the products you uses daily. You'll learn to give
facials, manicures, and hand and arm massages. You will
understand the importance of thorough hygiene and sanitation. You
will also learn how to work effectively with customers, employ salon
management skills, and practice interpersonal skills that are so
essential to the cosmetology field. Students successfully
completing the 1600-hour program will be prepared to take the
California state licensing examination for cosmetology.
