ROP Dental Careers Mission

Our mission is to prepare students for
  • Successful transition to colleges and universities
  • Immediate employment
  • Industry certification
  • Career portfolio development and presentation
     

Requirements for Admission to the Dental Careers Program

  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA in all school subjects
  • Maintain excellent attendance and professional attitude
  • Participate in community service
  • Be at least 16 years of age and registered in a high school program

Good attendance and perfrmance guarantee continued enrollment in the program.

 Student Leadership Opportunities

  • Students may join the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) student leadership development organization with a national membership of over 60,000.
  • HOSA students at ROP compete regionally, statewide, and nationally.

Dental Careers Classes

Dental Assistant, Front Office/Dentrix - One semester
Perform all the duties of a front office dental assistant, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, bookkeeping and record-keeping.

Dental Assistant, Back Office - One semester
Assist the dentist with procedures on patients' teeth and gums.  Earn radiation safety (x-ray) and CPR certifications.  Intern in a dental office after successful completion of the classroom portion of the course (with instructor approval).

Registered Dental Assistant  (RDA) Preparation - Two semesters
Master advanced chairside skills and assist at a monthly dental clinic for uninsured patients.  Upon successful completion of the course you will be eligible to test for several certifications including:

  • Coronal polishing
  • Pit and fissure sealants
  • Registered Dental Assistant license (RDA)
