The Theme
Park/Entertainment/Tourism Occupations course prepares
students for entry-level employment in Entertainment and
Amusement facilities. The course combines classroom instruction
and unpaid workplace training at entertainment park/tourism
sites. Students observe all site guidelines and procedures, wear
business attire to classroom sessions and company-provided
costumes during on-the-job training. Students practice
communication/ courtesy skills, cashiering, basic restaurant
service skills, safety, and guest services. Integrated
throughout the course are general career preparation standards,
which include communication, interpersonal skills, problem
solving, safety, technology, and other employment skills. All
students receive classroom instruction and select area(s) of
specialization for job specific skills training through
community classrooms and/or cooperative vocational education.
Students will receive 120 hours of classroom instruction and 270
hours of community classroom training. Eligible students may
receive advanced classroom training (108 hours) together with
paid on-the-job training at cooperative vocational education
sites (270-405 hours).
Prerequisites:
* Students are
interviewed by entertainment park personnel prior to community
classroom placement. * Published entertainment park appearance guidelines must be
observed and entertainment park (site-provided) costumes worn. * Students must provide safety-soled shoes and appropriately
colored hosiery (as per park guidelines).
