rop student photoROP offers a variety of student services and resources. Registration and other services are offered at the ROP Education Center. Appointments may be required for ROP assistance.  ROP applicants should visit our Human Resources webpage.

High school students can obtain career counseling and guidance, class selection, and enrollment information from their on-campus career guidance specialist.

Student Information Services

The Student Information Services Department assists with registration processing for all classes.  Call 714-502-5858, or visit us in person at the North Orange County ROP Education Center for the services listed below.

Student Resources and Transition Services

Disabled Student Services

  • Assists adults with appropriate career training selection suited to individual needs
  • Coordinates training with state, private rehabilitation, and community agencies

Students are required to provide:

  • Verification of disability from a certified professional.
  • Complete the Request for Services/ Accommodation Form (no later than four weeks before the semester begins).

The Disabled Student Services Office is located at the ROP Education Center.

High Tech Center for the
Visually Impaired

Students use adaptive software such as JAWS, ZoomText, and MAGic to learn keyboarding.  Students also use computer programs such a Word and Excel.

Workforce Investment Act

The Workforce Investment Act is a federal program that offers employment and training services to in-school and out-of-school youth who meet specific eligibility requirements.

This program offers the following benefits.

  • Learn basic skills
  • Enhance academic and occupational training
  • Gain opportunities for placement in subsidized employment

WorkAbility I

rop student imageWorkAbility I provides comprehensive employment preparation for high school students, ages 14-22, enrolled in special education classes.

By appointment only. Call for an appointment: 714-502-5851, 714-502-5828, or 714-502-5868, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Eligible students may also receive assessment of career interests and aptitudes, career technical training, and workplace skill preparation.

ROP Preschooling

North Orange County ROP's six preschools are state-licensed laboratory training sites for high school students.   You may be interested in having your preschooler enroll in one of our programs for four days a week.  (Once a week high school trainees have a child development "workshop day" and preschoolers do not attend class.)

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Training

Medical Continuing Education for DSPs

ROP provides Direct Support Professional training courses at no cost to currently employed direct care providers to help them meet their certification requirements.  This training is required for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who who have not passed the challenge exam.  Successful completers receive a certificate that allows them to continue employment in the field. 

There are two separate classes, 35 hours each.  Year 1 for those employed a year or less.  Year 2 for those who have completed the year 1 course exam and are in the second year of employment.

In lieu of the training, a Year I and Year 2 challenge exam may be taken.  Direct Support Professionals are exempt from the classes if they pass challenge exams.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes can be offered with sufficient enrollment. A CCF vendor code is required to enroll in a class or challenge exam.  Call Michele at 714-502-5853 two weeks before the beginning of a class.
