Amy Jensen Tapped as CACTE's 2010 Outstanding
New Career and Technical Teacher

Amy Jensen, North Orange County ROP instructor, Child Development and Principles of Teaching and Learning at Troy High School, has been selected as the 2010 Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher by the California Association of Career Technical Educators.  She will be honored in a ceremony at the Educating for Careers National Conference on Tuesday, March 2, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Garden Grove.

Congratulations, Amy!

Tracy Sawyer is North OC ROP's Classified Staff
Member of the Year 2010

Tracy is often on the spot first when teachers or staff are frustrated with their technology. Because she constantly pursues training in Mac and PC troubleshooting skills, and because her customer service is impeccable, Tracy can be counted on to find solutions quickly.  According to Joel Grospe, her supervisor, “she researches and understands the nature and scope of her assignments and comes up with creative, focused and flexible solutions to meet the technology needs of teachers and staff.   She provides teachers customized on-the-spot training on preventive maintenance including tips and shortcuts.  Additionally she has cross-trained in Reprographics, so she is wonderful backup.”

Tracy is a natural teacher, and she loves to share her knowledge.  She provides free assistance in computer repair and training to seniors and low-income residents in a Santa Ana mobile home park.  Tracy also is one of the first to organize and sign up for staff activities.  Her generosity and kindness to all make Tracy Sawyer, not only a perfect “Employee of the Year,” but also an important member of the ROP family.

Digital Arts Instructor, Robert Villegas, Named
2011 ROP Teacher of the Year

Robert Villegas, ROP Multimedia Production and Visual Arts Instructor, was surprised Friday, February 19, when North Orange County ROP Superintendent Michael Worley, Ed.D, Fullerton Union High School Principal Cathy Gach, Ed.D, a number of staff and FUHS photography students invaded his classroom.  He was even more surprised when Dr. Worley said, "Congratulations, you've been selected as ROP's 2011 Teacher of the Year!"

Robert will be honored by the Orange County Department of Education next fall in a ceremony at the Disneyland Hotel, and entered into the countywide competition for Teacher of the Year that culminates in a national contest.

The county-wide Teacher of the Year competition is sponsored by the Orange County Department of Education, Disneyland, The Orange County Register, and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. Winners of the contest will be announced next fall.

Congratulations, Robert!
