Your on-campus counselor or career guidance specialist (CGS) can
help you with ROP program selection, completion of registration, and
assistance with job placement. Career guidance specialists may
assist you with career interest surveys, aptitude testing, career
research, career information, and career goals. Credits apply to
high school graduation, as determined by the participating district.
The number of credits are determined by the student’s hours of
program attendance and active participation.

On-campus class descriptions
Business Technology—You
will learn to organize paperwork, compose business letters,
build databases to output spreadsheets, and create
PowerPoint slide presentations. You will have the
opportunity to learn beginning to advanced keyboarding and
Microsoft XP software, including Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. The class prepares you for entry-level
employment in office settings and advanced training.
Career Training for Transition CVE—If
you are already working, you can earn graduation credits for
up to 15 hours per week of your on-the-job training. You
will learn career planning, interviewing techniques, resume
writing and strategies for personal success on the job. You
will create a career portfolio that will help you in your
transition from school to work.
After-school class for high school students.
Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation (Introduction)—You will learn the basics of crime scene evidence collection
and investigation, crime scene photography, and diagramming
a crime scene. You’ll learn who to interview and what
questions to ask. You’ll sharpen your reasoning skillls,
your observation skills, and your knowledge of forensic
science detection techniques. This class prepares you for
entry-level employment and college studies in the field.
Legal and Law Enforcement—You’ll
gain an understanding of what substance abuse does to the
body and mind. You will also learn about criminal law,
traffic and juvenile law, judicial proceedings, and
emergency preparedness. Successful students will have the
opportunity to participate in field trips to justice
institutions and ride-alongs with police officers. The
class prepares you for advanced training.
