this class will give you a great introduction. You will
learn skills to assist Emergency Medical Services providers
at the scene. You’ll study patient assessment, triage,
first aid, emergency responsibilities, and ethical/legal
issues and responsibilities. This class prepares you for
the EMT class and advanced studies in the field.
Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation
(Introduction)—You'll
learn the basics of crime scene evidence collection and
investigation, crime scene photography and how to diagram a
crime scene. You'll learn who to interview and what questions
to ask. You'll sharpen your reasoning skills, your
observation skills, and your knowledge of forensic science.
This class prepares students for entry-level employment and
college studies in the field.
Legal and Law Enforcement—You'll gain an understanding of what
substance abuse does to the body and mind. You will also
learn about criminal law, traffic and
juvenile law, judicial proceedings, and emergency
preparedness. Successful students will have the opportunity
to participate in field trips to justice institutions and
"ride-alongs" with police officers. The class prepares you for
advanced training.
Retail Careers/General Merchandising CC/CVE—Learn on the job
in local retail outlets while earning graduation credits.
This course prepares students for entry-level employment in
retail careers through classroom instruction and on-the-job
training. You'll learn sales and marketing, security,
shipping, receiving, customer service, visual display and
inventory control. The course also prepares you for advanced
business studies.
This after-school class is for high school students only.
Retail Restaurant/Food Service Marketing Occupations CVE—If
you
already have a job in a restaurant, you can earn elective
graduation credits for your time on the job and broaden your
job knowledge at the same time. This class will prepare you
for marketing and service positions in restaurants. A
combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction
focuses on developing your management skills. The course
also prepares you for advanced business studies.
Visual Communications—If
you agree with the quote “A picture is worth a thousand
words,” you’ll want to take this class. You’ll learn the
fine art of communicating visually, using art and graphic
design concepts, elements and principals of design, color
theory, and typography in your projects. This class is a-g
college credit certified. Students who successfully complete
this two-semester course can earn one year of UC-approved
fine arts credit.
You'll learn
about the workplace from experts while earning elective
credits and preparing for a great job. This a great
way to start your career today, why delay?
