What
are the prerequisites for EMT?
A valid American Heart
Association Healthcare Provider Card is required within the
first week of class. We provide CPR classes
for EMT students during the first
week, for those who have yet to obtain a valid CPR card.
(For an up-to-date list of ROP CPR classes see page 25 of the
course
catalog). Clear
criminal background investigation is also a requirement.
|
What
does it take to get my EMT certification?
After successful
completion of the EMT course, you will be eligible to take
the
NREMT certifying exam.
(You must be at least 18 years of age to take the exam.)
After passing the exam, you must be accredited through a
local emergency service agency.
In order to do this you
will have to pay required fees for accreditation, and also
pass a Department of Justice background check. Then
you can go to work! |
Do you provide EMT
recertification classes and skills testing?
Yes, we do.
In addition to providing recertification classes and skills
testing, we provide continuing education classes along with
the new OCEMSA accreditation training. Contact Thanh
Nguyen at 714-742-3446 for information.
|
Where
do I go from there?
Students can jump right into
the work force by working for an ambulance company that provides
pre-hospital emergency care, or by working in an emergency room.
