Guidance
Your on-campus counselor or career guidance specialist (CGS) can
help you with ROP program selection, completion of registration, and
assistance with job placement. Career guidance specialists may
assist you with career interest surveys, aptitude testing, career
research, career information, and career goals. Credits apply to
high school graduation, as determined by the participating district.
The number of credits are determined by the student’s hours of
program attendance and active participation.

Auto Body Repair—Love
cars? Have an artistic side? Your learn how to transform a
wreck into a work of art. Don’t have a car? No worries!
Bring a bike, a metal trash can, mailbox—anything
constructed of smooth metal and big enough to work on is
perfect. You’ll learn the skills you need for collision
repair and auto restoration. The class prepares you for
auto repair employment and for advanced education.
Introduction to Automotive Technology—If you love cars, you’ll want to learn all the basic
automotive systems, from brakes and their components to the
electrical system and its parts. In this class you’ll learn
how to change fluids, perform safety inspections, and
document service needs. By the end of the class you’ll be
able to disassemble, inspect and service drum and disc
brakes and adjust brake fluids and learn what every
component in the car does.
Business Technology—You
will learn to type, organize paperwork, compose business
letters, build databases to output spreadsheets, and create
PowerPoint slide presentations, all using industry-standard
software. The class prepares students for entry-level
employment in office settings and advanced training. Skills
learned here prepare you for entry-level office jobs and
meet the FJUHSD computer proficiency standards.
Careers with Children: Preschool Assistant (CC/CVE)—Want
to be a teacher or child psychologist? You'll learn how to
work with preschoolers and school-aged children in the
classroom and in a school setting. If you are employed in a
preschool or after-school program already, you may be able
to earn elective credits for your work experience. Students
are preparing for entry-level jobs and advanced training.
Floral Design—If
you love nature, art and design, you’ll love this class.
You’ll learn all about flowers and plants, and you’ll create
floral arrangements for every holiday and occasion. The
class prepares you for entry-level jobs in the floral
industry and for advanced education.
After-school class
Health Fitness and Sports Medicine—Is
activity your middle name? Do think exercise is the best
part of the day? You’ll learn to evaluate sports injuries
and preventive techniques. You’ll also learn to evaluate a
person’s health fitness and design individualized fitness
programs.
Multimedia Design and Production—Is
visual expression your favorite method of letting people
know how you think and feel? Learn to develop interactive
CD-ROMs, multimedia productions and web pages on
PC-compatible systems, using scanners, CD-ROM writers and
commercial software. There’s a good living in this field!
Visual Communications—If
you agree with the quote “A picture is worth a thousand
words,” you’ll want to take this class. You’ll learn the
fine art of communicating visually, using art and graphic
design concepts, elements and principals of design, color
theory, and typography in your projects. This class is a-g
college credit certified. Students who successfully complete
this two-semester course can earn one year of UC-approved
fine arts credit.
