ROP Technology Services Overview

The Technology Services Department (TSD) provides leadership and assistance in delivering information technology necessary to support the program’s educational and business goals.

TSD is comprised of two functional groups: The Technology Support Group provides a wide variety of technical support services explained below.

The Reprographics Unit provides copying and related services.  Most production services provided by this group are now outsourced.  Read more below.


TSD provides the following specific services:

• Assistance in developing policy and planning for the effective use of technology
 
• Assistance in planning, acquisition, implementation and support of technology

• Technology research and technology standards development

• Computer, software, and network design and implementation
 
• Help desk system, troubleshooting and repair

• Internet access and e-mail accounts

• Maintenance of network, student information system, Internet and intranet web sites

• Multimedia technology assistance (PowerPoint presentation, digital imaging, video authoring and editing)

• Notebook computer, audio-video equipment and media checkout program

• Telecommunications support (landline and cell phones, fax, pagers)

• Storage media duplication services (CD, DVD, VHS)

Copying and related services:

• Reprographic services, printing of booklets, forms, syllabus and documents
• Assists in supporting program copiers
• Online submission of originals via OPRA

Production may be routed to the Orange County Department of Education Reprographics Department or other vendors for completion.   Please allow extra turnaround time.  Prices at OCDE are competitive and generally lower than at Staples.  You  should route your orders through ROP.

To better serve our teachers and staff, requests for assistance are booked online.  This site is open 24/7.  Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Depending on the urgency, severity and impact to the program, certain requests are prioritized.

Mail System Upgrades

Everyone in the ROP mail system should be able to access their email, calendar, and contacts.  For remote web mail users, you can simply type mail.nocrop.us in your browser (no need to type http or https or www).  Check out the new look and features of the remote web mail.

Smartphone users can synch their phones over the air now.  If it is not working on your device, please remove the current Exchange Activesync account and reinstall using the following settings:  server address is mail.nocrop.us, check the SSL box, domain is main.

New Features

You now have the ability to do "remote device wipe" if your smartphone or tablet device (iPad, iPod Touch, Galaxy, etc.) gets lost or stolen.  This can be done within Outlook Web Access, click on Options, See All Options, Phone, Mobile Phones. More new features will be announced soon.
